You haven't given enough information about your citrix environment, number of users, applications used, etc..

Like any other server, you should monitor disk, memory, and cpu utilization. And improve on any of them that are causing bottlenecks.

If the server is powerful enough, but still getting too many hits, you may want to add another server to the farm and start publishing applications for load balancing.

You should also monitor your Internet line, or maybe increase its speed. Citrix's ICA protocol is pretty fast, but you have options to make it faster. You can limit the number of colors in the display to 256 as the other options take up more bandwidth. Printing over citrix consumes the most bandwidth, you may wan't to restrict printing of large reports to off hours. You may also try disabling transmittion of sound over the connection.

I have dealt alot with citrix, and even if it is a good server with moderate traffic, there very well could still be issues. If there is definite slowdown on database applications, there may be problems with name resolution. Try adding a entry to the lmhosts file for the server that is hosting the app if that is the case. Are you running this local, or is this over the internet? You may want to take in to consideration the client bandwidth. Basically, we need more info man!!!
