Adobe Professional Won't Install--Is it Firefox?

By simone.hines ·
Hello..so I downloaded the Adobe Professional 8 on my home computer and when I try to install it, it says 'please wait while we configure.."blah blah..and nothing happens. I downloaded it at work and it was just fine. I'm working from home this week and need to be able to edit a pdf brochure that I'm working on. I'm already a day behind because I can't get this crap to work. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Try some other program

Hi Simone,

Try using another PDF creator/editor.

http://www.tucows.com/Windows/DesignTools/PDFTools/PDF/

There are plenty to be found - which are in my opinion superior to acrobat (quicker load times, less memory etc)

And no it would have nothing to do with Firefox. If you were intent on using acrobat you should be able to check the MD5 signature (hash) of the downloaded file to make sure the file is not corrupted.

You can check the signature by downloading a MD5 creater.
http://www.tucows.com/search?search_terms=md5&search_scope=win&search_adv=0&search_size=&search_size_multi=b
And check it against the MD5 signature that is usually posted on the page you download from.

Hope this helps,
Matt

Alternative software, readily available and free

by OldER Mycroft In reply to Adobe Professional Won't ...

Download Open Office, it'll take .pdf files straight in and back out again to .pdf.

I agree with mattsmith, Firefox would have nothing to do with it.

I'm curious, when it was configuring - how long did you wait? Maybe not long enough if the download was a self-extracting zipfile.

Thank you!

I waited over an hour. I was so frustrated I finally gave up. But thank you for your advice. I'll ditch Acrobat and try Open Office. Thank you again! Simone
