Advice needed for startup of Service provider company

By cr4zyJ ·
I am planning to startup my own service provider company and would appreciate some advice for owners of service providers.

My company will focus on GSP (game server provider for popular online games such as first person shooters, real time strategy), Voice communications (Teamspeak and Ventrilo for example) and hopefully later on Web hosting for customers to place their sites and be published online.

I have of course never done this before and feel as if I am in the wrong time to do it since there are many other developed and reputable service providers of this kind around the world, let alone in my own country, so I have alot of competition to compete against.

I also do not have a lot of experience in the setup of servers and correctly configuring them and not too sure about what kind of internet connection they should run off (100mb cable ok?). To fix this before I start out I am covering a Cisco CCNA, MCP in Windows XP, Win 7, and LPI for Linux.

Some general advice on how to startup and run things would be grealty appreciated. Please cover everything from o/s platform, server hardware, merchant accounts for payments, support and so on. I am determined to do this and fulfill my passion no matter how difficult, but a bit of professional push in the right direction would really help! :-)

Thanks!
