Locked

AGP video

By bob33 ·
I have a M/B with a max 133 mhz (2x) AGP slot.
Will a 4x video card (Geforce type) be compatible with the 2x slot and is it worth making the change, considering the difference in 2x vs 4x?
I now have a Creative Savage4 with 32mb RAM now.

The 4x card will work but at 2x and there is no real discernable difference between the two. Also 4x is the cause of many graphic related lockups on some systems. The GeForce card will be faster than the present card if speed is important to you.

Thanks for the quick response. So, will runnibg at 2x then preclude the potential lock up problem or not?

Running at 2x is what some have to do in order to prevent lockups. So for your system 2x is all you have you should not have the problem.
