Alt keys not working on windows 8.

Hi!
First of all, my computer is an Asus laptop (G53JW) running windows 8.

I've never had any problem keyboard-wise until very recently. Last night, I was using my computer normally when suddenly the left "alt" key stopped working (alt-tab, alt to access the menus on top, ctrl-alt-delete, nothing). I thought maybe it was a physical issue, but then I realized that my right alt key was not working either. I had not been drinking or eating at that moment, and what are the odds that both of my alt keys would break, leaving the space key in between working properly?

Any help or suggestion would be very appreciated!

It's possible there is an obstruction,

between the keys and the sensor. If you feel comfortable in your capabilities, it may be possible to loosen the keyboard and GENTLY **** any dust, fuzz, or other foreign objects out of the casing. I have an older Acer netbook that the "right click" button on the sensor pad began acting up, and that's how I fixed it. If you don't feel you can do that, then find a friend that is good with small tools and see if they will help you. The other possibility would be an imminent failure of the keyboard itself, in which case replacement may be in order.

But first try a Boot Disc

If they still do not work then you have a hardware problem but if they work from a boot disc your issue is a Windows problem.

You can use one of the Boot Discs available here

http://www.livecdlist.com

And boot from one of those to test the hardware. You may need to make a Boot USB Thumb Drive depending which NB you have but it's not that difficult and most of the Distributions have directions on how to do that.
