Alternatives to MS Outlook

By estela ·
HI!!

We've been using MS Outlook for a while now.

Suddenly Sr.Mgmt wants to look at better/cheaper alternatives to Outlook.

Any suggestions on email clients or simply put alternative to MS Outlook.

Thunderbird

by ThumbsUp2 In reply to Alternatives to MS Outloo ...

If you DO NOT use an Exchange server for your email and DO use an ISP email account (not MSN, AOL, Yahoo, GMail...) OR you have your own non-Exchange mail server, then Thunderbird will do the trick for you, for JUST email. You won't get all of the other features like calendar, tasks, journal, etc....... JUST email.

Not really.........

If they want the extras, they'll have to pay the Piper. To the best of my knowledge, and that's not very much, there's no other single program that will do it all like Outlook does.

Of course, there's always the option of installing multiple programs to accomplish each of the individual tasks that Outlook puts into one program. Unfortunately, when we were looking into this option and considering hosting our own calendaring system, we didn't find one that could do what Outlook does without paying a huge annual licensing fee to use it, in addition to the IT man hours needed to keep the thing running.

Thunderbird and Lighting

by cmccubbin In reply to Not really.........

Mozilla has a little known add-in called lightning that should fill all of the MS Outlook needs, it has for me and several of my clients and it works with GMail.
