Application Installation on W2K Pro

By steveh ·
When the user logs on this message comes up 'Unable to find Setup Information File c:\\winnt\temp\setup32.inf'

Not sure if this is preventing them from installing applications. But when they try to message says 'Setup has detected UninstallShieldis in use, close UninstallShield and restart setup. Error 432'

user is in Administrator group.

Could not reference Uninstallshield anywhere in windows. Any ideas are much appreciated.

Application Installation on W2K Pro

by erikdr In reply to Application Installation ...

Uninstallshield is from Installshield Co. It is being used for what its name says:
As an option when building an Ishield setup script with the Ishield language, with a few commands more also an Uninstall is built.

Now don't blame Installshield in this case - blame a certain app which had a failed install or uninstall. The 2nd app which you are trying to install, apparently also made with Ishield (70% marketshare...), detects this.
To test this statement, try an app like Office2000 which was not made with plain Ishield but as a MSI file (which also can be done with another IShield product, but MSI is the only executable - the builder leaves no trace behind.) Office2000 install should work because no conflicts with the failed Ishield install.

I'd research WHICH app had a failed install, and dive into its documentation how to cleanup this mess. Tip: look under the Program Files directory, or under the Software keys in the Registry...

Hope this helps,

The first answer looks good to me. If that doesn't work, try something else. Hope this helps.
