Assigning hyperlinks ?

In Office 2003 using Word I am editing a book. The index has a list of persons names and against each name is a chapter number denoting in which chapter that name appears. Each chapter number is hyperlinked so that the relevant chapter of the book containing that name would be opened. Having just renewed my computer it has been necessary to reinstall Office 2003 and now those hyperlinks don’t operate. It is far too time consuming to go into each individual hyperlink to edit it.
Is there a way that I can select several same chapter numbers at the same time & use one hyperlink edit operation for that particular chapter number
Any help with this will be very much appreciated. Many thanks.

Have you updated your office suite?

First. Update your office suite.
Second. select your document to open with Office 2003.
Your hyperlinks should work.

Each individual document opens o/k with Office 2003 – but not using the hyperlinks in the index ! Any other suggestions ?
