Atapi driver cannot be loaded

By roccop ·
When I boot my PC, I get a message that the 'Atapi driver cannot be loaded'. Does anyone know the answer. It has also rendered my cdrom drives useless.

Try booting with a Windows 98 startup disk. If you still have a problem with the drivers not loading, there may be a problem with your drive(s) or cable (if they share a cable) or motherboard. If the drivers load correctly from a Windows 98 startup disk, chances are that there is a problem with the installed driver on your hard drive.
