Attachments in OE 6.00.2800.1106

Frequently attachments indicated on the E-mail menu in OE 6.00.2800.1106 do not appear when the E-mail is opened; that is, the paperclip button does not appear on the header although the paperclip symbol appears on the listing of E-mail messages in Inbox. What is the problem and what can be done about it?

The e-mails involved were received in an earlier version of OE 6 and in OE 5. This problem arose following a recent update of OE 5.

To resolve the problem you are having with attachments in Outlook, do the
following:

1. In Outlook, click on the Tools menu and choose Options.
2. Click on the Security tab.
3. Uncheck the box next to ‘Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that
could potentially be a virus.’
4. Click OK.

You should now be able to open attachments normally.

Please note that the option I am referring to is not there is erlier versions of Outlook Express 6.0 and when you upgrade it will be enabled by default.
