Backup in NT with open files

How can one force Windows NT backup to backup all files including the files that are currently in use.

Unfortunately, I believe the answer to this is that you need a third party commercial backup product that supports this functionality like Ultraback or Backup Exec.

I use the DOS command XCOPY for my data backup from an NT server. I don't have any problem backing up files that are open.

For example:

XCOPY f:\*.*/s/d

I execute this command from the backup destination computer (an NT server). The f: is the mapped network drive to be backed up.

(The /s switch will copy all subdirectories, and the /d switch copies incrementally - that is only those files that are new or changed.)
