    Where can I find the CMOS battery to replace it I have a Gateway 533, . and should I write down the settings before I replace

      It is a silver disk on your Motherboard.
      When replaced cmos settings go back to default. You can copy your settings onto a disk and then reload them.
      Or write down the important ones and reset

      Hi – Post #1 it pretty much what you neet, bit brief.

      The battery on the MB is about the size of a quarter but thicker. If you have a MB manual it will show the location. If not it is a unique component. Has a metal spring (curved bent that sits on top to hold it down).

      When you get it out (or just read the number) you can purchase a replacement from most jewlry stores, watch repair, office suppily?

      usually on new systems the cmos battery is a nickel size shiny metal object on the system board the most common type is a cr2032 3.3 volt battery be carefull removing te one on the system board
