Does a BDC have a copy of all data directories in a PDC?
Also does it matter whether the PDC has SCSI
harddisk and the BDC has IDE harddisk?

Srivasta,

BDCs by "default" contain copies of the PDC's SAM database (system security DB) so that they can provide backup domain control/authentication. As far as copies of data directories, you would only have these on your BDC if you set up replication from your PDC for each and every directory (not recommended).

Regarding IDE vs. SCSI, other than the inherent performance differences it doesn't matter.

Regards.

The post above is correct as far as the SAM only. Keep in mind that the data directories to replicate are limited to one path, i.e. C:\My Documents\*, so when setting up file replication keep that limitation in mind...

BDC's have a current copy of the SAM database as of the last replication cyle by default. Other than that, and redundancy is up to the administrators to configure. The replication service can be used to replicate data from the PDC to the partners. Normally this is set to replicate any directories and filie found under the \\PDC\NETLOGIN share. This is to keep login scripts in sync. The replication service could be used to replicate morte but not normally.
In short, BDC's do not mirror data from PDC's unless special software has been put in place to mirror the servers.
