Yes there is a risk in doing a Flash Bios upgrade that can rendered your machine unusable if you donot follow the instructions and if you are unfimiliar with this process,I suggest a technician to do the upgrade.
It can fry the the motherboard if the procedure is not applied correctly.
For reference at the Post screen get the info from the screen who the Bios manufacturer is and note it ,then go the the manufacturers web site and check for Bios update, but first take time to read the Read Me file and then determine if you want to proceed with the process. The file will give you the instructions how to apply the Flash Bios.
You can also find the Bios upgrade from the following site www.windrivers.com
Warning:Flashing the BIOS is Risky, your machine could be found DEAD!!

You can go to Toshiba or to the intell site to download your bios upgrade. In both cases you will be given instructions on how to upgrade the bios. It is a simple procedure, but yes it can screw up, and your computer is down. Just be careful and follow their instructions.

You gotta be careful when updating BIOS. You may need to disable your cache settings temporarily before you update, depending on the upgrade you have to get. There are usually instructions with the updates. If you don't follow the exact instructions, your computer could crash (this is a bad thing)
As for the drivers, I would check the BIOS manufacture website. If nothing else works, you might need to purchase a BIOS extension card. Basically it's a card that fits into your ISA slot that you can get for about 40 bucks, maybe less. You can buy these nifty things from most BIOS manufacturers.
