All of a sudden XP now wants me to use a password, what happened and how do I bypass this. I am the only user and only person with access to this system.

try safe mode

by mrjay67 In reply to Booting into xp

You can try going into safe mode where you can log in as administrator. When XP was installed an admin account should have created by default. There should be an option to enter safe or vga mode in the very beginning of booting. If not try hitting F8 which usually takes you into an option of different modes. Under normal bootup the initial admin account is not shown or active and is logged into by safe mode.

This may all depend on how your installation was setup originally.

hope this helps

making many assumtions on this end, I suggest hitting esc if not on network, enter if so. if you have not made a password it 'should' still not need one.
