Burning pictures to a CD-RW

By Arohlmann ·
I have NERO and Easy CD Creator and neither program will allow me to burn my digital pictures to a CD-RW. I can burn them to a CD-R, but when I try and use a CD-RW, an error comes up saying please insert a CD-R/RW to continue the process. The CD-RW is in the burning, but it's not working! Please Help!!!!

It sounds like you might have a defective CDRW or maybe you started to burn something to it, and it was interrupted before it can complete.

Try performing a FULL erase on the CDRW and try burning anything to it, even something like a song or a text file. If that works, then do a quick erase on it, then try burning your pictures.

If it keeps failing, it would mean your CDRW is dead.

I don't use cd-rw for anything. They are very easy to damage within the writing process. Are you able to burn anything else using the cd-rw? You are of course aware that you have to go through a formatting process with your burning software?

Are Easy CD Creator and Nero both installed on same PC? If so, I'm surprised anything is working. These 2 programs are mutually exclusive.

If both are installed, uninstall both and then reinstall only one.

If running Win XP, try built-in CD burning software before re-installing any other burning software. It will write to and erase CD-RW media.

Normally, you use Nero In-CD or Roxio Direct CD with CD-RW disks for drop and drag file transfer and related operations.
Think of a CD-RW disk as a big floppy.

DO NOT use a CD-RW disk as a primary backup, or the only copy of any critical or valuable file!!!!
I have seen many a CD-RW disk suddenly loose it's format.

Even with CD-R disks, it is recommended practice to make at least 3 copies of any valuable files.

Now as to your problem:

Are the CD-RW disks you are attempting to burn to formatted?
You need an unformatted disk for Nero Burn or Easy CD Creator. Once the disk is formatted, you can only use it for drop and drag file copying.

What version of each program, and version of Windows are you using? There are bugs and patches that apply to different situations.

Nero used to offer a utility that makes it safer to have both Nero burn and Easy CD Creator installed on the same PC.

Finally, how much RAM and free hard drive space do you have?
You want at least 256MB of RAM, and 1GB of free HDD space in order to burn CDs.

all have given great answers

Easy CD Creator does not play well with other CD programs. I have have to rebuild PCs that have Easy CD on so that they could use Nero. Nero made better icos than Easy CD. Only Nero played well with are CD duper (15 CDs).

for info about CD and DVD go to
