You can start by deleting temp files. In C:\windows\temp.

You didn't say what the load is for your c: drive. If there are many documents that are easily grouped in siliar categories, why not take them off the hard drive and burn to cd or copy to floppy? Especially look to move graphics-entensive files like image files. Those family photos can go straight to a cd and you'll have alot of room.

Now, the hard part: are there many games on your hard drive? Maybe some could be uninstalled on the c: drive and put to the d: drive?

I found that using a combination of floppy disks, zip disks, cd's and then FTP to my webhost provided scads of room for me on my c: drive.

First delete everything that is in you c:\windows\temp folder.

Next, go under control panels to add/remove software. Select any programs you are not using or don't need and remove them from the system. Games tend to take up the most disk space.
Next look for your data files. If you have a "My Documents" folder you are using (or something like that) you can copy your Word (.doc), Excel (.xls), Powerpoint (.ppt) etc documents over to with no problem.

If you have songs (like .mp3) orpictures (like .jpg) on your PC, you can move them to the Drive also. These can take up quite a bit of space...

Good luck....hope this helps!

to be safe delete nothing in the system or system32 folder, try not to touch the root directory (C: itself), use Add/Remove programs to delete stuff you are not interested in or do not use anymore. Go to IE click tools then internet options. In the general tab click on DELETE FILES and below that CLEAR FILES. do a defrag after uninstalling and removing stuff.

Do not forget to clean the recycle bin.
When you delete file/s they go to the recycle bin.
To delete a file/s and NOT hvae them go the recycle bin use the shift key and delete key.

If you have more than users logging on to the PC, you will haveto clean each users recyle bin.

Go to Start, Accessories, System Tools and Disk Cleanup. This will clean up some space.
