Can Cisco 851/871 do a PPPoE DSL Connection?

Can Cisco 851/871 do a PPPoE DSL Connection? My DSL Modem has an Ethernet connection to the router WAN Port.

It shouldn't need to, even if it can.

The router should be fine behind the modem. You can't eliminate the modem, if that is what you want.

You have to put the DSL modem in bridged mode and then configure the Cisco to do the PPPoE authentication. That way the Cisco get's the IP Address from your ISP and will have to be configured to do NAT. See This article:
