By venraju ·
Hi,

Here some one asked me a question about creating a vartual domaing(PDC). The senario is liek follows.

I have one NT box runnigng as PDC. He wants me to create a logical Domain controller i.e anotther PDC must run on the same box at the same time. Is it possible. I haven't done this before. Please let me know. I appreciate your pactience.

Thanks,

I am afraid that is not possible. You will either need to get another machine; or you could create a dual boot machine which could boot into one OR the other, but not both at the same time.
Another suggestiion would be to combine the Domains by adding the users of one domain to the other domain.

Sorry, no this is not possible. This is by design.

In order to have two (2) simultanious domains, you must have two Primary Domain Controllers (PDC's - NT 4.0), or DC's (Win2k).

Fortunately, if you only need a small test domain, the hardwarerequirements are fairly light. We use a Pentium-90 w/ 64MB RAM and 2GB HD for our lab PDC (it is just a spare desktop).
