Can we using clone software to upgrade t

By ariefbh ·
We have Server with the Operating System Novell 4.12 and 1 GB SCSI the storage size. Until now our storage size almost full, and we have plan to upgrade the storage.

We have already try to run clone software from symantec for IDE storage and we have plan to run clone software with the above situation.

Any suggestion
Thanks

Can we using clone software to upgrade t

Hi,
Sounds like you're creating more work than is needed. In netware you can just add another drive then add its space to the volume that needs it. If you do have a need to replace the drive with another, there is a product called ServerMagic 3.0from PowerQuest that would let you manipulate NetWare partitions.
Hope this helps
Pete

When you say you're using the Symantec product, I'll assume you're using Ghost. You can do Netware volumes/disks, etc providing you have Norton ghost for Netware. I've used it on many upgrades and it works wonders! There's a trial version available at: http://www.ghost.com/sabu/ghost/ghost_nw/trialware.html
I don't know what it's limitations are though. Good Luck!!

Can we using clone software to upgrade t

Hi!

Unless you change any disk controllers or other hardware in server you're going to be able to use cloning software.

DriveImage pro and Ghost are great programs for doing this kind of thing.

DriveImage pro can make an raw image of the whole disk.

Obviously, adding an additional drive is the easiest way to increase storage space. If you're considering replacing the 1GB drive however consider using Seagate's Intelligent Disaster Recovery. The only drawback is that it works in conjunction with Back-up Exec which you may not be using as your back-up product. I used it to replace a 1GB SCSI drive with a 4GB. This product allows you to restore the basic system files (DOS, Netware & NDS)from diskette then starts Back-Up Exec so you can recatalog your last full backup tape and run a full restore. One comment though, I had to manually add my SCSI driver to the boot diskette as the disaster recovery preparation process did not copy it. Otherwise it worked great.

Good Luck,
Brian

If you don?t mind that you have to reinstall the C:\ partitoin are keep the old HDD for that purpose, simply use the mirror function in the INSTALL.NLM screen of NetWare!
