Can you install Office XP onto a Vista operating system?

My girlfriend just bought a laptop with a Vista operating system on it. Can I install Office XP onto it? The salespeople told her that this wasn’t possible, or basically that it would be a disaster. I find this hard to believe. I’ve heard you can install Office 2000 on it with no problems so why not XP?

but using the compatibility mode I would not think that it would be much of a problem. Off’03 worked fine (mostly).

We have Office XP installed on a Vista machine and it works fine however it is possible that the laptop has an image of Office 2007 on it already (OEM Pre-installation Kit) in which case you have 60 days to buy the Media License Kit (product key only). http://www.alien-technologies.info

the office xp installs but the laptop we put it on would not boot after your friendly vistaupdate put in some “patches” (released last month??)!!

after a pregnant pause, it comes up with a black and white VGA screen and the suggestion to revert to the last known good configuration – after which it boots but continually runs up errors.

removing the patches seems to suppress the errors.

      Office 2003 WOrked For me

      by eddiethestarr ·

Even though I didn’t keep it in for much longer than 2 days, I was able to successfully install office 2003. I doubt that you would be happy with 00′ if you are trying to use it.. Think, 7 year old software , not happy, not at all 🙂

OKAY My UnOfficial Rant — “Built in Obsolescence”
the three words that come into my mind. Granted im a tester, so I don’t really care, this is more for everyone else … Likewise, I have some bad data on Vista.

1st off, I was able to find a way to hack into BitLocker .. that was a no-brainer should I tape how and put it on utube?

2nd, Dream Scene is Fantastic right? (lookup DreamScene for Windows Ultimate) It works great untill you try to add another monitor, or three. In fact, if you have 3 monitors and you can get dream scene to run for more than an hour without it totally crashing and burning, email me with specs on your card =)

Thirdly (3rdly) User Account Control (UAC)
New Users are going to FREAK OUT when their screen fades into a “Let This Program Run?” Lets Face it, How many people do you know who have had the same computer for six plus years, if you ask them what version of windows they have, they say ” I dunno”

SIx Years of Watching it boot up, It said Windows XP Home Edition Didn’t It? Every Time (I’ll Betcha a Cookie)

UAC is going to most definately be beautiful because, i would never (NEVER) reccommend turning it off. I have found 4 *YES FOUR* ways to “Fudgebunnies” (in the spirit of Easter I will not Curse) AKA Comprimise Information if you have a static, (or if I know your dynamic) IP address.

ITs Very Sad to see Microsoft Windows Vista being almost respected by the IT community, Sure, it looks great, FanFreakingTabulous to be exact, okay i’ll give VIsta that Much, Im in GUI *Graphical User Interface* Heaven with DreamScene and the 80+ Scenes Ive downloaded from dream.wincustomize.com (Are they gonna give me credit if anyone checks them out? they better)

By The Way, Don’t Worry Because another generation of OS is fastly approacting 32bit is obviously so 1990’s , 64bit has too many execution threads mathematically working against each other on the macroscopic (nano+x) level causing intransigent destabilization To the 0’s and 1’s.

      Office XP into Vista

In reply to Can you install Office XP onto a Vista operating system?

Sorry to ask the same questions…but I’m confused. I Just bought a computer (still in box!) Now that I am reading all this-I’m afraid to open it. I want to install my office XP onto the Vista. Is it or is it not possible? Will it be a nightmare? What do I need to accomplish this? (Besides a human tech guy.)I am NOT a techie…I need the new computer to be able to read Word and powerpoint. Will it.

With a desktop, I simple removed the hard drive, replaced it with a similar hard drive and installed Windows XP. Some of the components required XP drivers, but I am very pleased with my deciison to leave Vista behind.
