can you use DSL on RAS

By northwood ·
Can you set up a RAS server to use DSL or Cable modem to accept incoming calls? Or do you have to stay with the traditional dialup modem or dialup ISDN? Can you then further configure your DSL to accept incoming VPN connections?

I know the traditional way for RAS is to establish a modem or ISDN dialup connection

also, can you configure a 2000 pro client with VPN using DSL or cable modem, instead of a standard modem or ISDN?

Any references on how to set up VPN using DLS or cable modem?

You were very close. You use RRAS and VPN to accept incomming VPN connections. The OS handles VPN internally pretty much the same as dialup. You will need to grant remote access to the users.

See Microsoft KB308208 for more details. This explains how to install and configure VPN and RRAS and gives links to other articles.
