Cannot connect to Computers on Domain

By dandp ·
Hello,

I seem to be having a problem connecting to the computers running XP Pro on my network. All computers can connect to the Mainserver and browse the files and folders BUT I cannot seem to gain access between XP computers. I cannot even gain access to these computers from the Mainserver. But these computers CAN Access the Mainserver.
I keep receiving the same error:

\\computername is not accessible.
Logon Failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer.

I have Internet Firewall turned off....I have CHOSEN NetBIOS over TCP/IP option instead of accepting the default.
All computers are part of the same domain. Hence they can access the Mainserver and browse its' shares. Everyone is part of the same Global Group with all the same permissions and access rights.

I am at a loss....any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance

Have you checked the share permissions against the NTFS permissions? Remember if you have permissions set on both of these, the most restrictive will take over.

The NTFS permissions are set to allow Administrator acces to the computer BUT to no avail. The File and Folder permissions also include Administrator access.

What article? no link. And the OS of the Mainserver is W2k in a mixed mode 98 and XP systems.

When xp pro clients join a domain the default shared files/folders feature of the pc are no longer available. If you want to gain access between xp pro clients you must share any folders you require and under the security tab of the shared folder's properties add the domain users which desire access to the shared folders. If you require detailed instructions let me know.
