after putting in the new card, the binding may be lost, in win98, go to command prompt, and type "ipconfig" and see if you are in the correct segment, subnet mask...
if not, you need to do a release and renew...
if you are already in, then see if the LEDs are flashing, if not, then you are not even in the network, if yes, maybe this new card is also faulty or is the correct drivers installed.

ipconfig /all show all good ip and sm,
I can get on the internet so tcp/ip is ok. I never see anything like this. Please give me another task to try out.
Thanks

You need to go to the registry. Run the ?Regedit? and go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Network\Real Mode Net
Delete the AutoLogon key (AutoLogon=00?00)
And restart your PC. If you want ? check Q141858. It will work.

Ewwww this can get complicated! First questions, Did you uninstall and then install the new card or just let the laptop auto detect it? Is the new card the EXACT same kind as the old one? Do you have all of your settings written down?
The easiest, and sometimes fastest, is to **** out the entire network setup and start over. Check "Device Manager" is there just one network card showing up (look in "other devices" too)if there's two (or more) see the first sentence of this paragraph, yeah I know you can try to determine which one is the right one yada yada yada but it rarely works right.
If there's only one (1) network card, one (1) TCP/IP stack and one (1) client showing up in your network/properties check and RETYPE the properties of each. Are you using DHCP? check the gateway, if not check everything and don't forget the "Identification" tab - "Workgroup".
I just tried to hit the high spots this could go on for pages, but the problem is most likely a mistyped Domain name (spaces count) or IP/GW/DNS address.
