Cannot logon after Windows updates

I just installed 59 or so updates on XP Pro and now cannot login to the PC.
If I try to login to the domain using the domain account, I get a message indicating that the NETLOGON service is not running.
If I try to login to the local machine using either the Administrator account or the domain user login, I get an error message indicating that the domain (local machine name) is not available.

Well, some service did not start, netlogon, for one..

Sometimes it takes more than one reboot to get it all settled down.

Look at your event viewer. Start netlogon manually

net start netlogon

My concern would be registry or file corruption, depending on what you see in event viewer.

How to Use Computer Management on a Remote Computer
NOTE: You must be logged on as Administrator or as a member of the Administrators group to view and modify most properties and perform most computer-management tasks.

To connect to and use Computer Management on another computer:
1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel. Click Performance and Maintenance, click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Computer Management.
2. Right-click Computer Management (Local), and then click Connect to another computer.
3. Click Another Computer, and then type the name of the computer that you want to manage remotely, or click Browse to locate the computer. Click OK and then click OK to return to the Computer Management window. The Computer Management window of the remote computer is displayed. The name of the remote computer is displayed at the root of the console tree.
4. In the console tree, expand System Tools, Storage, or Services and Applications to view the tools and services in each of these containers.
5. Click the item that you want (for example, Event Viewer) to use the tool, and then view the information that is associated with it.

I am having same issue and I am not able login even in safe mode

This all started when I just restarted my machine because it became very slow.
If I try to login to the domain using the domain account, I get a message indicating that the NETLOGON service is not running on this machine..
If I try to login to the local machine using Local Administrator account or the domain user login, I get an error message indicating that the domain (local machine name) is not available…..
This is happening in Safe Mode also. So I am not able to login anyhow…..just stuck on CTRL+ALT+DEL screen….that’s it

The Computer is not showing up in domain also.

Even I tried ‘safe mode’, ‘safe mode with networking’, ‘safe mode with command prompt’ and ‘last known good configuration’
