Cannot remove TweakUI

First you need to make a back up your registry. Since you're running NT Workstation, use the RDISK utility to make an emergency recovery disk.

This will include the registry in the backup. You do this by going to the command prompt and then following the instructions on the screen.

Next, delete all of the files that it created in the "Program Files" directory, and all shortcuts. Finally, clear the registry of any associations that it has with it.

In the event you accidently deletesomething that was needed for the system, you can restore it using the RDISK.

This method is really as effective as the Add/Remove utility because the Add/Remove utility will sometimes get rid of shared dll's, which will cause other programs not to work either. By doing it the way I suggest, you won't delete any critical system files. It never hurts to have a recovery disk, though.

Good Luck!

If you get an "uninstaller error" when you try to remove it from Add\Remove, a simple registry tweak will fix that.

Look here for details:

as an alternative you can just disable it.
go to hkey_current_user\control panel\don't load and then add tweakUI.cpl to this section.this will stop TweakUI from loading in control panel. Note you can also add others that you don't want to load liketelephon.cpl, etc
hope this helps

That link I gave earlier also says:

Manually Remove TweakUI

First of all, all Tweak UI consists merely of a pretty interface (the Control Panel applet, TWEAKUI.CPL) for changing Registry settings; an installation file (TWEAKUI.INF), and somehelp files, so if worse comes to worst, you can manually remove all "tweakui.*" files from your systemroot directory and sub-directories with:

cd c:\winnt
del /q /s tweakui.*

After you edit your registry to get rid of Tweak UI you may also edit this key to get rid of it in the add/remove list

The Add/Remove control panel applet remove tab builds its list by searching
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstal
