Cannot see server under SLP

By Raymond Wong ·
At the central site, I setup a DA on a server, a MA on a router connecting the private & the public network, the MA command is "scmd /am /nat;public IP;public IP mask;NAT realm;private network number". At the remote site, I setup a CMD server with an entry pointing to the central site's DA in slp.cfg & the preferred MA set to the central site's MA. Using the "display servers" command, I can see the remote servers at the central site's MA server but I can't see the central site's server at the remote site's CMD server. I can see the central site's server name appended to services:bindery.novell using the command "display slp services". What;s missing from my setup ? Thanks.

either edit the slp.cfg file OR turn on multicast between the routing segments ... you should be using the same virtual cmd network numbers between your MAs too

Hi there,

May I know if u 're using a router/ a bridge for the WAN link? If you happen to be using Cisco routers for both ends of the WAN link (between the central site & remote site), you need to ensure that the PIM & multicast feature might be turned on at both ends. You might want to visit www.cisco.com & support.novell.com for more info.

Just my 2 cents' worth. Hopes it helps. :-)
