can't log on interactively

By joegrosskopf ·
I have a Windows 2000 server and a Windows 2000 Professional workstation. Last Friday I installed the lastest critical updates from Microsoft onto both and now I can not log into the W2K Professional machine. The message reads "The local policy of this machine does not allow you to log on interactively". I get this regardless of whether I am logging into the domain or workstation, as my user or administrator. I have checked all of the system group policies for the log on locally right and addedpermission to my user with no positive results. I even disconnected my NIC cable and rebooted and I still can not log into the workstation. I am truly stuck. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Did you create an (ERD) emergency boot disk when you did the installation?
If you are like me then you didn't..

But if you did, you should be able to boot with the PRO disk and choose to fix a your installation.
Try fixing the SAM Db .... worth a shot.

If not you might have to reinstall....

I ended up removing W2000 and installing Windows98. The fix for the problem might be in SP2 but I'm not going to woory about it now...Thanks
