By evonhans ·
I have a user who can login to the Netware environment but can't authenticate in the nt domain. I have been told to rest the user profile in the winns database, how do I do this?

Can't login to NT Domain

by dbesenho In reply to Can't login to NT Domain

check the network settings on her machine. if you are using dhcp, make sure it is correct. also, you can manually specify the dns and wins servers -- try that. then reboot. if it still doesn't authenticate, do a ipconfig /release after that do ipconfig /renew then reboot again. that should work. if you get an error message, then dhcp is the problem -- make sure it is specified correctly. do ipconfig /all to see what the machine thinks it has, and verify if this is correct or not. all this assumes her wkstn is set up properly to authenticate to the domain, she has computer account set up in domain and has been joined, and her user id/password is correct. Hope some of that helped!

Thanks for your thoughts. As it turns out I missed a step in that I never joined the domain. Once I went connection details and joined the domain, I was able to login. So you are right the wkstn was not set up correctly to properly authenticate to the domain.
