Career Change?

By aksharpatel ·
Hi! Everyone.

I am a client/server developer for last 5-6 years using Powerbuilder/VB with Oracle/Sybase/SQL Server. I also have some experience with Frontpage/HTML/JavaScript/VBSCRIPT and so forth. I want to move out of Powerbuilder/VB programming and get into new technology.

All I want to know is that what is good move in technology. I mean to say 'JAVA/ASP/JSP/XML' etc.

Please reply asap.

Thanks

Career Change?

I think if you enjoy working with the web you can not go wrong with Jscript/VBscript/XML. Try and focus on database connectivity (ADO,JDBC) as that is always a huge plus. I would not totally disregard your VB skills, with Microsoft's new .NET philosophy the center of the strategy is visual studio 7. Included is VB 7 which now encompasses visual interdev, in other words if your a good VB/ADO programmer you can make a fairly easy transition to the Net with visual studio 7. Good Luck
