Career Decision

By sam12587 ·
I'm a part time network tech getting my associates in august & then I start my bachelor's in MIS.
My dilemma:
Would taking a job as a receptionist set me back professionally?
The job offers free tuition for my bachelors & masters degrees & that's the only reason I'm considering it. It would save me at least 10 grand in student loans. This university has no IT dept I could try to get into later so the position would have no future for me.
And, I love fixing systems & working on networks.
Anyone's thoughts would be appreciated.

Take the job

by lance.gillis In reply to Career Decision

Keeping yourself out of debt will go a long way to relieving stress in your life and allow you to concentrate on your career when you get your degree. Try thinking of yourself as a "student" first and an "IT" person second for right now. The job might also allow you to network in the University and gain valuable contacts and information to help you acheive your primary goal of getting the degree. good Luck.
