In reply to Catchy Name for a Computer Repair Business
I like the DataDoctor – soemthing catchy and easy to remember.
Did you check only whether the domain is avilable? I know not everyone would like this idea, but have you checked whether the owner would be willing to sell the domain? perhaps he desnt ask for absurd prices… and catchy name might be just worthy it.
Also, you can try something like DataDoktor, DataDocktor.
Or you can just use the .net instead of .com
Perhaps .bus is also nice option. If you really want your business to succeed, dont put such great importance on the name – yes it is important.
However – without the proper model, advertisement, quality of services, even having google.com wouldnt help you 😛Of course if you go for such an idea, consult a lawyer to make sure the other guy wouldnt sue you for imitating his business with one letter change… just to be on the safe side in case something like that happens.

Business naming ideas…
by cmilioti · about 16 years, 8 months ago
In reply to Catchy Name for a Computer Repair Business
Greetings,
You should aim for a name that immediately defines your business’ service. The cute names can bite you later if the scope of your endeavors change.
If you’re stuck, you can always bid the name (and logo design etc., if desired) to the community at elance.com.
It is a great service that unites buyers and professional sellers of creative content.
Anything from business names/concepts, to logos, to full websites, and everything in between.
It costs zero to join, and is totally anonymous until you have narrowed your selection to a single provider.
Worth a few minutes of your time, indeed. I have had great experiences with the elance service and have recommended it to many of my clients.
Best of luck to you!

In reply to Better Bussiness Name …
HI MATE!,
I was just wondering if you had thought of just using your initials as it short enough for people to reminber as well as your e-mail address,I’ve been down this road and i ended up coming back to my initials.
You want something that’s easy for customers to remember.
Remember the old saying:K.I.S.S (KISS)
keep it simple stupid.
You won’t go wrong if you always keep this old saying in mind, even with your customers.
I hope this helps you a little in you’re business naming.
Good luck with your new venture.
Very kind regards

Omega Technologies
by allowingsuccess · about 16 years, 8 months ago
In reply to Catchy Name for a Computer Repair Business
Greetings!
When I had a computer store open to the public for new sales and repair, we named it Omega Technologies – The ‘end all’ in computer repair. Obviously playing on the word Omega. For short, and on the business cards, we had it as O-Tec. Once we set up the Omega Technologies, Inc., we went to the bank and filed our dba (doing business as) declaration for the O-Tec version so that we could accept checks made out to the shorter name. The name served us well for quite a period of time.
Just a thought.
Take care and I certainly wish you well along your path to success!
Max

I have a buddy with a New York DBA, his business is called ComputerEase.
It’s catchy, with double meaning. You will “ease” the pains computers give average users, and it suggests the language of computers spoken here, as in “computerese.”
Being you’re not in New York you’d be free to use it.

In reply to Catchy Name for a Computer Repair Business
Someone who is looking in the yellow pages because their computer is screwed is not the same person who “gets” all the in jokes.
Marketing is the key. For yellowpages, create your business name so that it appears at the beginning of the list, alphabetically. You can accomplish this by using the letter “A” as the first word in your company title. Technically a numeral should precede the letter A. So names like:
1A Computer Repair
1A Computer Consulting
1A Computer Fixed Today
1A ComputerFix2Day
1 Day Computer Guysmay serve you better than some of the cutesy names. Get it? Non-geeks want to be reassured that their computer is in good hands, ease their pain, fix it fast, and fix it once! Something that makes them reach for the phone right away.
See your business name in at the top of the list in the yellow pages, on the magnetic sign on your car, and on your business cards and flyers.

URL doesn’t have to match your business name
by jtakiwi · about 16 years, 8 months ago
In reply to Catchy Name for a Computer Repair Business
You can have a good business name without having the matching URL.
Naming tip, you don’t want to limit yourself with a name. What i mean is, most of the suggestions that were offered were geared towards fixing computers, so they would lead one to assume, if they were looking at potential it service providers that you fix computers. In business, they don’t necessaryily want someone to fix their computers, they want someone to prevent problems and when necessary, bring them back into service. The main goal is prevention, rather than breakfix. So, since you are starting out, why not aim a little higher than just breakfix? Did you know that over the past 3 years or so, over 1000 breakfix shops have converted to managed service providers? The main difference? They collect money monthly via contracts, rather than depending on computers to break to make a buck. just a thought. Good luck, God bless.

You may be missing out on an opportunity unique to the New Age Conscious, spiritually aware greater Southwest. Yes, Wiccans, channelers, and faith healers have computers (and computer problems), too!
How about:
PRC – Pladien Repair Channel – Keep your computer attuned to the right cosmic frequency!
OCSS – Orange Chakra Systems Service – Is your personal computing device messing with your aura? Sending out a hostile red aura of its own? We can help!
BMC – Burning Man Computers – When you know it’s time for your system to be sacrificed! Clean, non-lingering, environmentally friendly termination of hostile personal computers and accompanying ECF’s (Evil Computer Familiars).
And for the more traditional …
PCES – Personal Computer Exorcism Service – Exorcise your system demons today!
FBCSPPPSDUSWC – Faith Bible Computer Service, Porn Proofing, and Protection, Second Division US Western Council – If your personal computer is not serving God it is serving Satan! Get behind me, evil computer!

Up And Running and trade mark it too!
I’ve used it successfully in Louisiana for 10+ years but it had been hard to register as a domain name.

PCLIVETECH : The name is not very user friendly

Tumalak,
The name PCLIVETECH is not very readerfriendly and doesn’t seem to be very catchy. You may not go with ByteKnight but don’t choose PCLIVETECH.
I Can suggest a few more. Lemme know

What market are you aiming for home or business?
by sharps2010 · about 16 years, 8 months ago
In reply to any more ideas…?
PCLIVETECH in my opinion would look a whole lot better if written like: PC Live Tech at least then you’re helping them out with the name of the business, or even PC Tech.
ByteKnight is a good one but I think from personal experience in the uk (so probably very different in the states??) I have found that you have to assume the end user knows nothing about computers to the point that they wouldn’t know what a byte was, it’s a good play on words for the rest of us but you have to remember that generally if they’re ringing you for advice they don’t know much about computers. How about IT-Knight?
I may be coming from a British angle on this so excuse me if that is the case.
Mat

Got to admit this name would stick and stand out. Only problem is that people would likely misspell succor for sucker.
suc?cor /ˈsʌkər/ Pronunciation like sucker
noun
1.help; relief; aid; assistance.2.a person or thing that gives help, relief, aid, etc.
?verb (used with object)
3.to help or relieve.-

Oh God What a Name!!
by geeyum · about 16 years, 8 months ago
In reply to COMPUSHOOTER
Sorry Tumalak.,
I know it is a combination of Computer and Troubleshooting, But the name sounds like you will shoot the computer , Secondly the slogan You broke it .. blames the user which i think isn’t right. Because No customer will ever agree he broke it. and the CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT.
Final decision is yours anyways. The above paragraph is my personal opinion.
Regards,
G M
