Cd creation problem (PART 3)
Lockedby doar_me · about 23 years, 12 months ago
<<< see PART II I must emphasis I consider myself an experienced user, and I've created mant CD's successfully. I have no idea what the problem may be, and as a result I write to you. This problem really upset me as I don't know what to do anymore. I should say I've created few CD's (data) just last week and an Audio one (three weeks ago) and have had no problems. Thanks. (end)

The only thing I can think of is you mentioned that you have 900 megs of wav files. Try removing some of them, and going with a smaller sized burn. if you leave teh session open, you can add more tracks untill you find the magic number it will letyou do…

Fisrt off in response to the last answer DO NOT use a cd-rom cleaner on your writer! It will likely scratch the lense and destroy the drive (I know I have done it.)
Second, have you tried burning the cd again? I know that would cost all of like a dollar, but it may have just been a bad disc, it does happen even with good quality CD’s.
Third, did you change the program you make your wavs out of? i.e. you were using a CDDA program, and now you are using a MP3 extractor? You may not be creating the WAV’s correctly for writting to CD’s. i.e. wrong bitrate or Khz. Try an old WAV file and see if it burns correctly.
I have created many audio discs and data discs as well and from time to time I just get a bad writting. Try burning another, I bet the problem goes away.

The worst part of diagnosing a CD burner is that you have to burn CD’s to determine whether an issue is still occurring or not.
You appear to have exhausted all of the software based troubleshooting on this item. It’s time to bite the bullet andsee what else is going on here.
1. Does the CDR burn *OTHER* audio CD’s correctly? Burn a new copy of the exact same disk using a different physical disk. If the burn goes, then you have a problem with the actual CD blank. Throw a fit, get money back, etc.
2. If the CDR *DOES NOT* burn this correctly with a different blank, we need to determine if it is the audio files or the burner. Try to burn an audio CD with an entirely dif’t set of tracks. If it goes, the scanned WAV’s were somehow faulty or corrupt. Rescan and reburn. If the completely different burn still doesn’t work, start shopping for another burner.
Good luck, and I hope your burner is OK!

If the cdroms you are using are blue backs this may be your problem, many audio cd players such as car stereos have problems using the blue disks it is usually hit and miss. Try using gold disks such as Kodak’s and this may solve your problem.

Do you have DMA checked? If so uncheck it. Also try recording at 2x that should work. Make sure you have the latest version of Adaptec’s Burning software.

I have had this problem a couple of times as well. I have usually found that using different brand CD’s and dropping down the write speed has helped. I am not sure what type of CD’s you are using, but stay away from Maxell and Memorex. I have had good luck with Kodak and Immations. Audio Only CD’s, More $, but worth a try?

firstly, you should redo your wavs in winamp of course. and make sure no programs are running, which both speeds up the process and make sure it’s good quality. maybe you have don’t this or not, I don’t know.
Another problem that I can think of why the cd is poor quality, happened to me once, is because of the recording. there are many reasons, I think what I am about to say is not suggested yet. Maybe your recording lens inside the burner is broken/messed-up. so you should consider changing or get a new one. I’ve changed with the shop for 3 times already because of that problem.
anyways, another reason might be your cable connection at the back of your burner, have you check that yet?? make sure it’s in properly??
that’s all I can sayfor now. hope that helps!-

IMHO – Sounds most likely that hardware is the problem. Lord only knows how many times we Tekkies hear the “It worked fine just yesterday” story. If you’re not making anything usable (don’t get hung up on this one creation – try something that worked before) it’s gotta be the hardware. I agree with JESALYER on this one.
