Change Hotmail Folder in Outlook 2002

    Locked

    by tiapetra99 ·

    Using Outlook 2002 in XPProsp2.
Would like to change the storage folder for the hotmail.pst file to another drive.
    Currently at this default location.
    C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Have tried copying it to the new drive location and deleting original file and restarting Outlook. Works with the pop accounts, but not Hotmail.
Can’t find any options in Outlook for this.
    Any tricks to do this???
    TIA

      Did you close it first?

Did you close the hotmail.pst file first, move it, then open it from the new locations?

Based on what you said, you should have two “Personal Folders” lists. One normal and one for the hotmail account. Maybe even 3 if you have the archive.pst folder open. Is that correct? If so, right click the hotmail main folder and choose “close”. Shut down Outlook and move the hotmail folder to where you want it. Start Outlook, then do a file/open, outlook data file, navigating to where the hotmail.pst file is now located, select it and open it.

Pointing to the open folder did it. Didn’t have to with the othere pop accounts.
Too many different progs to remember LOL

New location didn’t pick up the additional folders in Hotmail thru Outlook, but they are still there thru web Hotmail. Have to back them up before I let it sync with Outlook.

Thanks a bunch for the info.
