Change Win98 Logon Client appearance

By Biz-Tec ·
I need to create a personnel logon client or change Microsoft' client for microsoft networks for Win98 so that I can use large
text and a personnel logo. Client for Microsoft networks or Windows Logon
does not seem to have any flexibility in this area.
Any ideas welcome

Change Win98 Logon Client appearance

You can write a client for your business using VB.

There are some issues like using a custom-built client cannot be automated the same way the system login is. A user would have to start the system but you could put an entry in the Registry toforce a modal window so that the user had to login before gaining control of the system. I have not personally done this but and therefore I would be concerned about unauthorized users gaining access to a local machine's resources but I believe thenetwork resources would be as secure as if you were using the integrated client.

If you are interested, you can reach me through the peer directory for further comment or direction.

For NT you can go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Default\Control Panel\Desktop.
Change the Wallpaper entry so it contains the path to your bitmap file. For Win98 you can only add a text message in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Winlogon adding "LegalNoticeText"="Your Message"
"LegalNoticeCaption"="Legal Notice"

I see the "Any ideas welcome" is really not true but you won't find any other ideas than those I gave you as Mr. Gates has made sure to design it that way. Good luck rejecting answers only to come to the conclusion that you will find none outside ofusing Linux where you can do whatever you want to the GUI or implementing my MS solution.
