Question

Locked

Cleaner

By mkrisa32 ·
I am looking for an excellent cleaner for windows that is like norton systemworks. Something that cleans file errors, window errors, active x errors, etc. It would be great if it was a moblie app.
Thanks for any help.

You are not going to find anything that replaces the whole suite.

So, you will need to find multiple apps or suites to cover this. I'm not sure every single bit will be portable.

File errors - every Windows installation has chkdsk.
(In general, you might want to review help/resource kits for a list and explanation of all the native Windows utilities. You may be surprised as to what is there.)

Registry clean/repair: There are a lot of these. The ones closer to WinDoctor in potential aggressiveness and flexibility tend to cost money. http://www.macecraft.com/ is a good example. A "safer" type of registry cleaner is CCleaner, which indeed can be portable, also has other functions.

Defragmenter. Again, loads of these. Windows comes with its own as well.

A bunch of other functions can be covered by the excellent utilities at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb545027.aspx - look at Autoruns and Process Explorer, for example.
