CMOS MEMORY COUNT

By digitalshy ·
I have a Gateway computer with AMD Atholon processor and 64MB memory. During the boot process the memory count indicate 0. How do I correct this?

CMOS MEMORY COUNT

by TheChas In reply to CMOS MEMORY COUNT

Sounds like your RAM is going bad, or is loose in the socket.

Does the system boot into Windows?

If so, then this is very unusual.

An off-the-wall thing to check, would be the OS-2 switch in BIOS settings. If the switch is set for OS-2. then the BIOS might not report memory if you have exactly 64MB.

This also could be a BIOS bug, or a security setting in BIOS settings.
