CNA Certs

By Vorsossion ·
Anyone have an idea where, if anywhere, I can get a trail version of Novell's latest Operating System? I passed the CNA but I feel like a liar really calling myself a CNA without at least using the software for a while. (too many dang paper certified techies out in the world as it is, I don't want to contribute to that mass. *grin*)

CNA Certs

First, check with Novell. If you can't find info about a trial versioj of Netware there, try calling the local sales office. If you give a sob story to the right sales person, they may be able to get you copy.

You may also want to join NUI, Netware Users International. they have local chapters in many major cities, and software is available. You can find out more by going to their web site:

www.nuinet.com

They have a huge set of CD's and DVD available with all kinds of software and utilities for $20.00. They are a very good resource. They have different packages available. Several years ago, I got a bundle with eval copies of every software package Novell made.
Hope that helps.

a quick comment about paper certs..

You know when you have no experience a paper cert helps - at least it's better than no cert - and with most certs it is just that it doesn't necessarily help you - it just helps keep from hurting you.

All a cert is supposed to be is a foot in the door, just like a diploma. The experience is what really counts anyway - but you know when somebody doesn't have any experience and they work hard to pass these tests - they should get credit for trying and they should get the foot in the door that they deserve. That doesn't mean that they compare to someone who is experienced - it just doesn't compare. But the cert should be recognized for what it is.

I did not mean to come off as anti-certification when no experience is at hand. I feel certifications can show a level of knowledge when there is a lack of corporate experience. I just do not wish to say I am a CNA (like I am) without at least once opening the program is all. I just feel it would be too close to lieing for my comfort is all.
