computer not able to boot from windows disc at all.

    Locked

    by tushicomeng ·

I know how to format a computer and I have set the boot priority to CD/DVD but the computer is not able to boot from the Windows disc. No screen stating press any key to boot from CD appears. I also tried pressing any key as soon a the computer started if i would have been missing that screen due to slow response of the monitor. but nothing happens. The current OS just starts. Is there any other change that I should make to boot from the Windows disc??

Check the cd on a different system and make sure it is a bootable cd (make sure it boots from cd on different system). Check to make sure that the cd rom is working by reading the CD in the os currently installed.

where it wouldn’t detect it if the ROM was on the secondary IDE & set to master….I switched it to the primary slave & it worked….don’t know why…possibly a flakey controller but it seemed to read CD’s fine….just wouldn’t boot from them.

          once set to
Master (and connected to the appropriate connector on the IDE ribbon cable, it works great and boots up fine
