THE COMPUTER WON'T START, SOMETIMES IT WOULD TAKE 1 AND A HALF BEFORE I CAN GET A SCREEN AT BOOTUP. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? ALSO THE CD/RW AND CDROM LIGHTS DURING STARTUP KEEP FLASHING SEQUENTIALLY? THEY WONT OPEN ALL THE WAY

More details please. Any recent installation of hardware or software? First level troubleshooting remove everything, check all connections, power and IDE cables. Then remove everything and boot-up on bare essential.

1. Please mention your operating system
2. disconnect your CD rom and CR/W
3. Try to Boot it with a bootable floppy
4. List out all your recent addition and deletions of softwares

You may have a RAM of 128MB Simmtronix Original with having Old VGA Chip. Ps let us know the full configuration to know exact cause.

What else do you have plugged in to the same power strip? Ran into a case just recently where a window a/c was plugged into same strip, switched it to a wall plug and everything was ok.

I had the same problem with a WIN95 machine. This was caused when I installed a CD Writer. To rectify the problem I removed the items in device manager, rebooted the PC and let Windows rediscover the hardware. This solved the problem.
