Conference room Calendar on Exchange 5.5

By JP. ·
The basics are easy enough. Create the mailbox and place it in the resource container. Log in and set all the options for the calendar. We are using Outlook 2000 so no need for the auto accept script anymore.

What I would like to do is to delete the inbox, contacts, etc and only leave the calendar. How do I go about that.

Does anyone have any other tips for creating resource calendars

You are doing it the correct way.

The resource though needs to keep it's mailbox info. You can't get rid of the essential folders. And as long as the mailbox is locked down, you should not have to worry about the aestheics because no one will ever see it.

Poster#1 had a good article on it.

You are basically doing the last option in the article.

I would take the articles advice and deny email messages to that mailbox. That is what I do to restrict the mail to that mailbox.

I also used a gen purpose account for my resources such as the conference room. Log in as that gen purpose account into the mailbox, set your settings and then you can log off of out of it.

We have configured ours as Public Folders and the solution has been a good one for us. We additionally do this with vacation requests, "bookable hardware" (projectors, etc), and Training facilites.

Take a look here for more info:

Good luck, hope this helps. It may not be an idea solution in all cases, but I have been very pleased with how it worked for us.
