Context menu default value

By steve.parkhouse ·
I've got a Toshiba laptop running W98se. Somehow the context menu default setting has changed from Open to Find. Anybody know where to find the registry setting for this please?

Most of the context menu settings can be accessed through Windows Explorer. Click View > Folder Options and click the File Types tab. Scroll through the list until you find the problem file type. Click edit and you should be able to see the context menu commands. You can click 'new' and add an open command, or if the open command is already there, click on it and click the 'Set Default' button.

These settings are stored in the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT section of the registry and can also be modified there (if you know what you're doing)

Good luck.

Actually, this only happens when I right click on a folder in the righthand pane of Win Explorer, or if I right click on the START button. File type are OK.
