Contract to Hire positions..

All,

Looking at a career change, moving from local IT Administration to Field Tech...through an IT Staffing company.

It's a 3-6 month contract then strait to full time "hire" position...just wandering what everyone's experience is with these types of agencies.

Is it a good idea? What has been your experience, a lot of IT managers I know start out in contract positions, then hire onto full-time...a way of bridging that Employee - Customer gap...

Thoughts and ideas...appreciated!

    I guess it depends on various things. (present experience, education, certs, etc) Staffing agencies are okay if they can get you a gig, or even an interview. That seemed to be the hard part when I tried that road. In the end, I think if the company that will eventualy "hire" you meets your expectations, it can be a good thing.

    But if you feel the agency is not helping and wasting your time, move on.
