Corrupt NT user profiles.

By kevin ·
My school district is experiencing the corruption of user account roaming profiles. We have ~1700 workstations on our NT4 network with ~8000 accounts. The server where our user accounts reside is a Dell PowerEdge 2300 with dual processors and connectedto a Cisco Catalist 5500 switch. The ntuser.dat file seems to be getting truncated when the user logs off and the system is trying to copy the roaming profile back up to the server. WHAT MIGHT BE CAUSING THIS AND WHAT CAN I DO TO STOP IT FROM CONTINUING TO HAPPEN?

As far as I can remember when a user logs on the profile is copied to the local pc, any changes made (registry etc...) are stored on the local copy. When the user logs off the user.dat is then sent back to the server along with changes.
An option to stop the user.dat from being changed when the user logs off is to call it user.man, this is the mandatory profile & is not changed.

This response doesn't speak to what is causing the account corruption. Making the profiles mandatory is not an option. Users need to be able to update their profiles without CORRUPTING them!
