Call taskmanager, folder process, look for your .exe running, right click, and change priority.

Try clicking on the Processes tab in task manager then click on the CPU column name to sort by processor usage. This will at least tell you what process or program is taking up all the processor time. Then you can proceed from there.

I found out that Windows system Process Performance Objects.dll is using up my CPU and MsiExec.exe is also. I tried to use Previewer and Pstate. Pstate moves to fast to look for the Thread 0x805257F0 to find out what driver it is. I tried adding/p but it does not work for this program???????

try closing apps in background, check useage, then restart apps one at a time to find which one is causing problem.

You never indicated if you were using XP, but in case you are.
Check in your computer management/system tools/event viewer/applications check your warning and error messages to determine which programs are hogging the cpu. Also you never indicated how much memory you a using. Sometimes if a program doesn't have enough memory to reside in it takes more CPU time to accomplish the tasks at hand. With XP you should have no less then 128 pref. 256-512 ram.
Good Luck

Check your temp folder, under local settings. I've ran into a similar situation and the person had approx 42 thousand items. It would take about 90 seconds to open an application and CPU usage was at 100%. After I cleaned it up, and there were only about 1200 itmes,, it took approx 5 seconds to open.
