    CPU usage going crazy

    When my computer is doing nothing at all except for just sitting there being switched on the CPU usage in windows task manager is all over the place. Randomly anywhere between 0% and 100% ? The machine is a Toshiba satelite pro A120-159. I feel alot of the other problems with this computer such as generall slowness and files not opening could be related to this.

      Your PC has been “hijacked”. You might have a virus. Try running Sypbot (it’s free and I believe that it is still being updated) and so is HiJackThis (a bit more complcated).

      Download and run Spybot after disconnecting from the internet.

      If that doesn’t work, try system restore if you are running XP. You may have installed a program that is trying to connect or changed seom setting to constantly look for a something. Good Luck!
