Create Fields In Word 2000 Precedents

By nicki.ansdale ·
Can anyone please give me a shortcut for creating 1 column of text with 1 column of fields opposite, fields to line up under decimal points? The only way I have been told about is to do this in tables, then right align the fields in cells where I want decimal figures to be typed in, then take out all the lines in the table. Surely either a shortcut hot key can be created, as in WordPerfect, or a macro for all this?

Also, I need to create a dropdown field in a footer, but have been told this is an impossibility.

You can set a decimal tab, either:
On the ruler using the tab icon at the far left of the ruler to select the type of tab and then clicking on the ruler where you want the tab to appear.
Or
Go to Format Tabs and fill in the position of the tab and choose decimal alignment.
As far as I know you can not use FORM fields in comments. headers, footers, footnotes, endnotes, or text boxes.
You might want to look at AutoTextList:
