Creating An Online Booking System

By eraser3498 ·
I'm interested in learning how to creating an online booking system for my local sports center and I'm wondering where to start. I would like it to be able to break down a day in to 1hour or half intervals. I would also like intergrate paypal into it as well. Also I would like to put inside a frontpage website. Any suggestions for software, books or tutorials would be greatly appreciated.

Firstly, please give details about what kind of platform and programming language you want to use. If you are going for low budget system, I recommend using PHP and MySQL.

The part you really have to put in effort is the time matching part, because the system will need to inform that user regarding the availablity of the timeslot that he's booking for.

After that, he will be taking to registration page which prompted with personal information fields like name, email, contact number and etc.

After all that, you will just need to pass the value for the payment to paypal.

Integrating Paypal part is quite simple, you just need to pass several values from your system to the paypal server then paypal will process everything according to the value.

Any PHP book should do the trick for you. Regarding paypal, you can just go to paypal site and learn about how to pass the values to paypal server.

When you get it up and going, put me down for $500 on the Indianapolis Colts (at 8-1) to win the Super Bowl in 2006.

What? It's not? Oh, nevermind. I thought you said bookie, not booking.

1) I wouldn't use Frontpage. I'd try to keep away from the proprietary garbarge and funky HTML is spews out.
2) You will need to learn PHP or ASP. The languages are very similar. I would suggest either a "Dummies" book or a book from O'Reilly.
3) To "integrate" Pay-Pal, you are simply linking to the site I would imagine?
4) Breaking down days into 30 minute intervals isn't a problem. You probably also want to get some blogging software to to help the format.

Hope that helps.
