Creating XP Startup Diskette

By joe935 ·
In creating the Startup diskette the article states to accept all defaults when formating the diskette. When I started the format the option to "Create an MS-DOS Startup disk" is not checked. So I am wondering if the created diskette will actually work without the MS-DOS start up files?

Ms dos boot disk is the only type of boot disk you can create in windows xp.Anything else is just a format. You can only use the disk to install ms dos operating systems such as windows 98 as the xp disks are bootable from cd rom and are a different file system. If you do not have a bootable computer from cd then i would suggest install windows 98 and upgrade.
