Database Security

By nnco00 ·
Hi
How can I secure my database in a way that no one, other than I, can directly access it. Notting that the database is used in a VB Application.
I thought of putting a password, and pass it with the provider in the application, but that means I have to do changes in the application each time I changed the database password. This is why I think it's not the best solution. so please help me in solving this issue.

Well, for one, I think securing the database with the use of passwords is a good idea, although not enough.

I would also recommend that you try to encrypt your database data. This way, although someone might be able to open the database, the datawould be unreadable and useless anyway.

Encryption would be something of a cipher code which you can design to as complicated as DES algorithms.

There are a lot of resources about encrytption in the net.

Good luck.

Write (10 or 20)password in your application.
let your program code check the database password.
If your database password match one of them then no error will occur and will open else you will get error No.
you can go around this error.
then Only You will need to change the database password.
regards

Hi,

I have read about your security problem of the database.

I have got one solution which I write here briefly.

" While you load the application you first Ask for a 'Database Password' and store it in a variable. Pass this variable with the Provider in the application. This password is enter every time when you run the application."

"If you changed the password of the database, you don't have to do changes in the application each time, just pass the New Password of the Database when you run the application."
